Educational Philosophy
Every child can learn.
Children must be given every opportunity to learn and grow at their own pace. Children must be provided with many avenues for learning; through hands-on exploration, technology, literature and life experiences.
Wondering and questioning are essential for the growth of a lifelong learner; learning never stops
It is the purpose of the educator to ensure that learning is a joy, not a job.

4 years Kindergarten ~ Serendipity School
I was born and raised in Minnesota, where I learned to love nature, music and the arts. I married my high school sweetheart and we have two beautiful adult daughters. I love to travel and have made it a life goal to visit all the national parks in the United States. I own a small hobby farm with one horse, four goats, and fifteen chickens. I have lived in Georgetown, Texas for sixteen years and am proud to have taught at Parkside Elementary for seven of them. Teaching is my passion and it is a true joy to go to work every day!
I started Serendipity School four years ago, at a time when Covid-19 was shifting the paradigms of formal education. People were concerned about their children learning and socializing, while staying safe at the same time. As I considered how I could help, I came up with the crazy idea that I could start a school in my guest house. This crazy idea soon became a crazy reality and Serendipity School was born! Serendipity means: the occurrence and development of events by chance in a happy or beneficial way. The joy and the benefits have been beyond my expectations!
While fulfilling the needs of my first learning pod, I realized that a formula of low student-to-teacher ratio and half-day learning was very effective for the young child. At Serendipity, I am able to give each child individualized and targeted instruction. I feel this first big step in a child’s education needs to be structured, loving and fun. I love teaching five & six year olds and I want to grow lifelong learners!
I look forward to meeting new students and their families every year! I hope you will consider going on this learning adventure with me!
